- Macy's to Close Stores
- On Jan. 4, 2017, Macy's announces a plan to eliminate 10,000 jobs as part of a series of store closures following on the heels of dismal holiday season sales numbers. First mentioned back in August, the closures are meant to streamline the brand's portfolio and allow focus to shift to high performing locations and the website. The states seeing the most stores closing are Texas (8), Pennsylvania (6), and Florida (5).
