| Director: | James Mangold |
| Cast: | Liv Tyler, Pruitt Taylor Vince, Shelley Winters and Evan Dando |
Mangold's debut chronicles the small-town inertia of a painfully shy, overweight short-order cook (Vince) and his love for a soul-searching waitress (Tyler). The performances, especially by Vince, are wrenching and true, though the pace plods a bit to emphasize the characters' slow-as-molasses lives.
